HOSPICE AT-HOME PROGRAMME

Hospis Melaka is a non-profit voluntary association (NGO) consisting of a full-time Nurse Coordinator who is supported by volunteer doctors, nurses and lay persons who have had training in understanding Hospice Philosophy. Hospis Melaka offers its service through the Hospice At-Home Programme where the full-time nurse and volunteers visit terminally ill cancer patients, their families and care givers in their own home. As each individual's needs and problems are different, during the first visit and subsequent visits, the Hospice At-Home Programme nurse assesses the patients and work with patients, families and care givers in finding ways to improve patients' quality of life during this phase of life. 

Services


  • Counselling for patients, families and care givers.
 
  • Emotional support for patients, families and care givers.
 
  • Guide on symptom management.
 
  • Teaching family members on the care of patients such as wound care, prevention of pressure ulcer, cleanliness, etc.
 
  • Other nursing services such as catheterization, change of ryles tube.
 
  • Loan and rental of equipment.
        
         Equipment for loan
         Hospital bed, ripple mattress, wheelchair, commode, walking frame and suction machine

     Equipment for rent
         Oxygen concentrator
Important point to note:
Patient must continue to keep their appointments with their own doctor at the clinic or hospital.
